Mazda looks to jump in on the cute-ute game next month

While its widely accepted the next-generation Mazda2 will make its North American debut in Los Angeles next month, the subcompact hatchback may have to share the stand with a new sibling.

According to, Mazda will reveal the much anticipated CX-3 when the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show opens its doors in November.

Underpinned by the same platform as the Mazda2, the CX-3 is expected to compete with the forthcoming Honda HR-V and Toyota C-HR and be powered by the same 1.5-litre four-cylinder SkyActiv engine as its subcompact brethren. It will also be available with manual and automatic transmissions.

Motoring says the new CX-3 is likely to be front-wheel drive only.
