Slow-selling luxury electric vehicle getting engineering enhancements

As many await the new 2016 Chevrolet Volt’s debut in Detroit early next year at the 2015 North American International Auto Show, we may get a sneak peak of what will move GM’s bowtied electric offering in November.

According to Edmunds, the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show in November will play host to an updated Cadillac ELR, a model that haven’t been flying off dealer lots since it was introduced.

Changes will include “engineering enhancements,” David Caldwell, spokesperson for Cadillac, told Edmunds. The changes are aimed at making the ELR a more premium offering to take on other hybrid and electric offerings from luxury automakers.

Also, it appears there will be no 2015 model year ELR. Instead, Cadillac will jump straight from 2014 to 2016.
