Los Angeles, California – Mazda has unveiled the all-new 2013 CX-5 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The new model is the first next-generation Mazda to adopt the entire range of the company’s new SKYACTIV technology, which includes re-engineered engines, transmissions, bodies and chassis that deliver environmental sustainability and safety along with driving dynamics.

It is also the brand’s first model to use its new “KODO – Soul of Motion” design theme and new “signature wing” grille.

The CX-5 uses a 2.0-litre direct-gasoline engine that produces 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque; Mazda says that its 13:1 compression ratio is the world’s highest in a mass-production vehicle. In front-wheel drive and with a manual transmission, the CX-5 will deliver 7.8 L/100 km in the city and 5.7 L/100 km on the highway, and 8.0/6.4 in all-wheel drive with its available six-speed automatic transmission.

Along with the Mazda3, the CX-5 is intended to be Mazda’s core model. It will be launched worldwide starting in early 2012.
