Los Angeles, California – The all-new Porsche 911 Carrera has made its first U.S. appearance at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The new model took “Best of Show” at its global debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
Longer, lower, wider and 45 kilograms lighter than the previous 911, the seventh-generation model is athletic, elegant and iconic. Its innovations include aluminum steel composite construction, automatic start/stop function, engine and transmission thermal management, and the world’s first seven-speed manual transmission.
The 911 Carrera uses a new 3.4-litre boxer engine producing 350 horsepower, while the Carrera S uses a 3.8-litre boxer engine that makes 400 horsepower, a 15 horsepower improvement over its predecessor.
The first 911 models will arrive in dealerships beginning in February 2012.
