Los Angeles, California – Ford has presented the 2013 Escape, an all-new model that features eleven exclusive features and fuel economy projected to top any vehicle of its kind currently available.
“We call our all-new Ford Escape the ‘smarter utility vehicle’ because it offers the strengths that customers today really value – fuel economy, versatility and new technology that makes driving and living with the vehicle easier and more fun – all wrapped in a sleek, more modern design,” said Derrick Kuzak, group vice-president of global product development. “Ford understands that more people every year are looking at vehicles like Escape, and we want to give them even more reasons to buy.”
In addition to more cargo volume between the first and second rows than the current vehicle, the new Escape includes such features as an available hands-free power liftgate that opens when a user moves his or her foot under the rear bumper, a new Ford Intelligent 4WD system, an upgraded SYNC with MyFord Touch system, active parallel parking assist that detects and automatically steers the vehicle into a space, Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert, and Curve Control and Torque Vectoring Control to assist on turns.
The Escape will offer a 2.0-litre EcoBoost or the North American debut of the new 1.6-litre EcoBoost engine, along with an updated 2.5-litre engine.
The new Escape will also be sold in Europe and China as the Kuga.
