Montreal, Quebec – Lexus has unveiled the next generation of its RX luxury crossover vehicles for 2010, the V6-powered RX 350 and hybrid RX 450h, at the 2009 Montreal International Auto Show.

The RX 350 includes a revised, more responsive 3.5-litre V6 that achieves 275 horsepower, mated to an all-new six-speed automatic transmission. The new model is more powerful but more fuel-efficient than the previous generation. New technologies include a world-first Organic LED display, new Remote Touch navigator, and heads-up display. The RX 350 will continue to be manufactured at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada in Cambridge, Ontario.

Lexus introduced the first-ever luxury hybrid in 2005; the second-generation 2010 RX 450h upgrades to a 3.5-litre V6 engine, replacing the previous 3.3-litre, matched to more efficient and lighter electric motors. The system will reach 295 net horsepower, a 10 per cent improvement over the previous generation, and adopts the Atkinson Cycle for the first time to reduce energy loss. An Exhaust Gas Recirculation system reduces smog-forming emissions and improves overall fuel consumption, while a new Exhaust Heat Recovery System is expected to provide a 14 per cent improvement over the previous generation.

The RX 350 will be priced at $46,900 when it arrives in Lexus showrooms across Canada in February. The RX 450h hybrid will arrive a few months later, with pricing announced closer to launch.
