Toronto, Ontario – Zipcar has partnered with the Parkdale Village and the Roncesvalles Village Business Improvement Associations to help keep the doors of Toronto’s Parkdale Community Food Bank open.
On Saturday, July 23, 2011, the Parkdale Village BIA will hold its Then and Now Festival, a neighbourhood street fair, with Zipcar Toronto and the food bank partnering in making a direct appeal to the community.
Zipcar will also place coin collection boxes for the food bank in all of its Parkdale vehicles and will be joining the food bank to help raise donations at other events as well.
“Zipcar is all about being local, and we see this as a great opportunity to further encourage our great community of Toronto Zipsters to give back to this important local cause,” said Michael Lende, general manager of Zipcar Toronto. “We’re glad to be able to support the Parkdale Community Food Bank and hope that together we can help make a difference in the lives of Parkdale residents.”
The food bank launched an urgent appeal on July 15 and has since received $30,000, with a matching donation of $15,000 from an individual donor. The organization has a goal of $100,000 which will allow it to stay open into next year.
