Geneva, Switzerland – The top three finalists for the four World Car of the Year awards have been named at the Geneva Motor Show. The winners will be declared at the New York International Auto Show on April 1, 2010.
The top three finalists were named for the World Car of the Year, World Performance Car, World Green Car and World Car Design of the Year honours. The vehicles are selected and voted on by an international jury panel of 59 automotive journalists from 25 countries around the world, chosen on the basis of his or her expertise, experience, credibility and influence.
The finalists in each category, in alphabetical order, are:
World Car of the Year: Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Toyota Prius, and Volkswagen Polo
World Performance Car: Audi R8 V10, Ferrari California and Porsche 911 GT3
World Green Car: Honda Insight, Toyota Prius and Volkswagen BlueMotion (Golf, Passat and Polo)
World Car Design of the Year: Chevrolet Camaro, Citroen C3 Picasso and Kia Soul
