Bella Coola, British Columbia – Work continues on a section of B.C.’s Highway 20, with repairs made or detours in place for nine of the 14 areas closed on September 25 following heavy rainfall. Major washouts, rock falls and flooding damaged sections of road interspersed along almost 175 kilometres of the highway.

“We appreciate how important this corridor is to the people and communities it serves,” said Transportation Minister Shirley Bond. “Additional equipment and supplies will help ensure we get Highway 20 open as quickly as possible. Our crews have been working incredibly hard and have made exceptional progress, considering the difficulties they’re facing.”

Access is now available from Williams Lake as far west as the bottom of Bella Coola Hill, and from Bella Coola 68 kilometres east to Stuie. Photographs and videos of the affected areas, and a progress map, are available at Highway 20.
