The tour began this week in Victoria, British Columbia and will travel coast-to-coast over the next four months, stopping in every Smart Centre across the country. The Fortwo Electric Drive is currently only available to a select group of Canadians through a vehicle pilot project. The tour will expose the model to a larger audience and allow test-drive opportunities in advance of the car’s official launch next year.
The Fortwo Electric Drive’s lithium-ion battery has a range of 135 kilometres when fully charged, allowing for comfortable transportation of two passengers without creating local emissions or compromising safety or interior space. The electric motor provides maximum torque from a standstill, enhancing the fun-to-drive quotient.
The national contest will be held onand will run until November 30, 2011. The winner will be announced in January 2012 and will take delivery of the first 2013 Smart Fortwo Electric Drive Cabriolet in the middle of 2012.
