Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus, Nissan/Infiniti, and Mazda all caught in the crosshairs.
There’s no entries in Transport Canada’s Recall Database yet, but this campaign is getting a lot of attention.
CBC News is reporting an airbag recall in some Japanese vehicles is going to have widespread implications in Canada. In total, 3 million vehicles worldwide have the faulty airbags installed, however a specific number of Canadian units is not yet available.
The issue has to do with the pressure at which the airbag deploys, as it may be too much and injure vehicle occupants. The airbags are made by Takata Corp. of Japan.
We’ll post the definitive affected vehicle list here as soon as it becomes available. Until then, if you own any Japanese vehicle built in the early- or mid-2000s, try not to deploy the airbags, okay?
UPDATE: We have all the models in the recall in another post.
