Muskoka, Ontario – Volkswagen Canada has announced that its all-new 2009 Touareg TDI Clean Diesel will arrive in showrooms this June, starting at $48,975. The company said it is the most affordable clean diesel SUV in the Canadian market.
“The Touareg TDI Clean Diesel continues our BlueMotion Technologies strategy to expand our fuel-economical and lower emissions alternative powertrain offerings in Canada,” said John White, president and CEO of Volkswagen Group Canada. “Combined with the Jetta TDI Clean Diesel and the upcoming Golf VI TDI Clean Diesel, the Touareg TDI Clean Diesel helps Volkswagen regain the diesel leadership that it has held for over 30 years in Canada.”
The new model features a 3.0-litre V6 producing 225 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque, combined with 4Motion permanent all-wheel drive system. It meets the world’s most stringent emissions standards as an Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle, using Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology.
Transport Canada estimates fuel economy figures at 11.9 L/100 km in the city and 8.0 L/100 km on the highway, with a highway range of 1,200 km per tank of fuel.
