VW produces 23 millionth Golf
Wolfsburg, Germany – Volkswagen produced its 23 millionth Golf on August 27th at its
Wolfsburg plant in Germany. Volkswagen now builds the model at factories in
Wolfsburg, Mosel, Brussels, Bratislava, Sarajevo/Bosnia & Herzegovina,
Uitenhage/South Africa, Changchun/China and Curitiba/Brazil, and in Mexico.
The Golf began production in 1974, and in 2002, production figures overtook those of
the Beetle, setting a new record for Volkswagen. Production of the fifth-generation
Golf began in October 2003.
