Bangkok, Thailand – Volvo Car Thailand has received two awards, for Best Advanced Technology and Best Luxury SUV, at a Car of the Year ceremony held in conjunction with the Bangkok International Motor Show. The awards were for the S80 3.2 and XC90 D5, respectively.
The Volvo stand included the C30 and Volvo ReCharge Concept, and was visited by Suwit Kunkitti, Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry.
“We were naturally very pleased that the Minister of Industry chose to visit our stand,” said Paul Stokes, president of Volvo Car Thailand. “It was the only stand he visited at the show; he really wanted to see the safety solutions in the Volvo S80 3.2, the C30 1.8F E85 Flexifuel and the ReCharge Concept.”
Some 1.6 million people visited the show during its ten public days; Volvo sold 60 cars during the event and performed 700 test drives. The company has been present as a brand in Thailand since 1962 and sold 619 cars in the country during 2007, an increase of 36 per cent over the previous year. Nationwide, Volvo has eight authorized dealers operating twelve outlets.
