Volvo “The Hunt” contest starts today

Irvine, California – Volvo Car Corporation has announced the start of an online search for a sunken treasure chest containing US$50,000 in gold pieces and the key to a new Volvo XC90. It is the second such Volvo contest and the first open to Canadians.

The competition, which includes 22 countries, is in connection with the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. The contest, which opens today, concludes with a global “head to head” on June 2 of the top performers. To join the contest, participants 18 years of age and older must visit a Volvo retailer to pick up a special pirate chart, and register at VolvoCanada.com/TheHunt before May 29.

Once registered online, contestants follow a virtual high seas adventure and receive clues to solve puzzles. On June 2, the first person from each of the 22 participating countries to finish the online hunt will compete in one final online challenge. The first to solve the final puzzle will be named the winner and, should it be a Canadian, receive a trip to the burial location to retrieve the chest with the gold and keys.
