Swedish automaker hit a home run in Frankfurt with concept meant only as a design exercise

Volvo’s Concept Coupe design study was meant to be just that. But, when the cover came off in Frankfurt, it was hard to ignore the collective applause of the public and automotive media.

That applause was so loud, Volvo has decided to give the idea of bringing a production version to reality some discussion.

Based on the new, scalable architecture underpinning future XC90, S90, and V90 vehicles, a production version of the Concept Coupe would probably get the same front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options. A turbo four-pot would more than likely make its way under the hood as well.

Also, if the car does make its way to public streets, expect it to be called C90 and get a retractable hardtop version.
