Volo Auto Museum to auction “Christine”
Volo, Illinois – The Volo Auto Museum in Volo, Illinois is offering three movie cars for sale on eBay, including a 1958 Plymouth Fury used in the 1983 movie “Christine”. The museum maintains an extensive collection of famous Hollywood cars.
Also up for auction are a 1970 Dodge A-100 van used in the 2003 remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and a 1975 Cadillac Eldorado from The Devil’s Rejects and The Bad News Bears. The vehicles will be listed on eBay until October 10, 2006.
Columbia Pictures invoiced 16 Plymouths for “Christine”, but only three actually survived the filming, including the one being offered for sale. The Dodge van looked rusty in its 2003 film debut, but was painted to look that way, and is actually in good condition, save for a shattered rear window, chainsaw cut and “bloodstains” left over from filming. The 1975 Cadillac was driven by the “Rejects” to their deaths in the horror movie’s final scene; it was later repainted and driven by actor Billy Bob Thornton in the movie “The Bad News Bears”.
Christine’s eBay item number is 170033211331; the Dodge Van is 170033214132, and the Eldorado is 170033221014. More information on the Volo Museum can be found at www.volocars.com.
