Volkswagen wins “Best New Engine of 2006”

Wolfsburg, Germany – A new engine featuring dual-charging with a supercharger and turbocharger has won the “Best New Engine 2006” award, along with top honours in the 1.0- to 1.4-litre engine class at the International Engine of the Year Awards. The awards are voted on by 61 international journalists from 29 countries.

The TSI engine uses a supercharger for the lower rev ranges, along with a turbocharger, which produces an output of 170 hp with fuel consumption of 7.2 L/100 km. Production of the 1.4-litre has started in the Golf GT and the Touran.
