Volkswagen unveils taller, roomier Golf Plus
Bologna, Italy – Volkswagen added a new Golf model to its line-up on Thursday. The
taller, roomier Golf Plus has different bodywork and a higher seat height, but
resembles the standard Golf. The Golf Plus will go on sale in Europe at the end of
January, 2005 at a starting price of Euro 16,740.

The Golf Plus is 1.58 metres in height, 95 millimetres taller than the Golf, but 5.4
centimetres lower than the Touran small minivan. The Golf Plus has taller seating
positions and more headroom for front and rear passengers. The rear seat has three
separate folding seats, and the centre one can be used as a table with cupholders.
The trunk has a flat loading surface with the rear seats folded down and has up to
1,450 litres of cargo space.
In Europe, the Golf Plus will be available with two gasoline and two diesel engines
(TDI) ranging from 75 horsepower to 115 horsepower. In addition to manual five-speed
and six-speed transmissions, the Golf Plus will offer an automatic six-speed
Tiptronic with gas engines and the double clutch DSG system with diesel engines.
