Volkswagen to supply diesel engines to DaimlerChrysler

Wolfsburg, Germany – Volkswagen’s Salzgitter, Germany facility has begun delivery of its 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine to DaimlerChrysler in the U.S., where it will be used in the new Dodge Caliber model variant intended for Europe.

The engines are supplied under a contract between DaimlerChrysler, Mitsubishi Motors and Volkswagen; this shipment marks the first Chrysler vehicle with such an engine. The engines have been specially adapted to DaimlerChrysler and Mitsubishi specifications.
