Volkswagen Passat wins European Auto1 Award
Wolfsburg, Germany – The Volkswagen Passat has won the Auto1 Trophy, one of Europe’s most prestigious and important readers’ polls, in which over 40 million readers of 24 European magazines took part. The final round of voting focused on 13 models, with the 40-member jury of editors, technology and motor sports experts awarding the prize to the Passat.
The Passat previously won the Auto1 award in 1997; the newest-generation Passat has also taken the Gelber Angel consumer prize from Germany’s ADAC automobile club, and the Goldene Lenkrad presented by German newspaper Bild am Sonntag. In Germany, 98,136 were sold in 2005, for a market share of 17.3 per cent.
