Herndon, Virginia – Jonathan Browning, currently responsible for Volkswagen’s national sales companies, has been named president and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America. He succeeds Stefan Jacoby, who has left the company.
“Volkswagen will play an even stronger role in the important U.S. market going forward,” said Christian Klingler, of the board of manager of Volkswagen AG sales. “Jonathan Browning is an acknowledged expert on this market, its customers, and its sales structures.”
Browning, 51, has held numerous executive sales and marketing posts worldwide at General Motors and Ford. He moved to the Volkswagen Group in June 2010.
The company has a sales target of 800,000 Volkswagen and 200,000 Audi models by 2018, and is investing US$1 billion in its new plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Volkswagen Group of America was founded in 1955 and has 800 dealers across the country.
