Volkswagen launches GTI with unique online ad

By Paul Williams

Ottawa, ON – Volkswagen’s newly appointed advertising agency, Crispin Porter + Bogusky,
based in Miami, Florida, is starting things off with a controversial and
unique new online advertising campaign, now running on CanadianDriver, and
other online properties.

“We are indeed thrilled to be working with North America’s hottest
advertising agency,” says Patrick Saint-Pierre, Volkswagen Canada’s Public
Relations Manager.

The “Auf Wiedersehen, sucka” campaign features a memorable online opportunity
to “take a joyride” in the new Volkswagen GTI, although keeping your eyes on the road
may be difficult.

“The Volkswagen brand has a history of speaking with a voice that does not
follow trends, but rather speaks honestly about what is genuinely different
about the brand” says Mr. Saint-Pierre. “The GTI campaign is an attempt to
recapture that voice, and reassert the brand’s legitimate ownership of
performance.”

When you see the GTI advertisement, be sure to, “Press the gas” and click “Take a joyride.” You can spec out a GTI with your choice of color, wheels, transmission and other features, then sit back and “watch your joyride.”
