Volkswagen ends tech-share deal with Maserati
Wolfsburg, Germany – Volkswagen has killed off its planned technology sharing co-operation with Italian luxury brand Maserati.
The extensive agreement, intended to offer Maserati access to Volkswagen’s technology, distribution network and bank, ran into trouble after VW chief executive Bernd Pischetsrieder delayed plans to introduce the “C1” car, the first vehicle designed under the joint venture, which would have made use of the co-operation plan for its axle.
Pischetsrieder denies that the action is related to recent changes in upper management at Maserati.
