Wolfsburg, Germany – The Volkswagen Group is donating €1 million to a fundraising project to rebuild the town of Onna in Italy, following an earthquake in April.

Onna, a town in the L’Aquila region, was almost entirely destroyed during the earthquake, and is to be rebuilt as a symbol of the catastrophe.

The fundraising program was initiated by the German ambassador in Italy; Volkswagen’s decision to donate followed a meeting between the Ambassador and top managers of the German car company in Italy, when the Ambassador outlined his aid plan for the town.
