Volkswagen builds its 100 millionth vehicle

Wolfsburg, Germany – The 100 millionth Volkswagen, a silver 1.9-litre TDI Touran, came off the assembly line in Wolfsburg, Germany yesterday, a long way from 1945 when the new company made 1,800 Beetles.

Volkswagens are now built worldwide, at plants in Wolfsburg, Emden, Hanover, Mosel, Brussels, Pamplona, Bratislava, Palmela, Poznan, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, South Africa and China. Currently, there are 41 models worldwide; in 2004, Volkswagen delivered over 3 million vehicles in more than 150 countries.
