“99%” sure on hardtop availability, no convertible
Those looking to kick it old school in a retro-styled Beetle will be pleased to know the recently announced Classic will likely arrive here in Canada.
According to Volkswagen Canada public relations representative Thomas Tetzlaff, the Beetle Classic is “99%” sure to be added to the lineup.
“We are awaiting final approval and pricing,” stated Tetzlaff.
However, only the coupe is expected on Canadian dealer lots. Convertible models will likely be restricted to the US.
The Beetle Classic will be the least expensive trim offered south of the border with a sticker price of $20,195 USD. It is powered by Volkswagen’s new 1.8-litre turbocharged gasoline four-cylinder engine and six-speed automatic transmission.
Features include 17-inch “Heritage” aluminum-alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, a leather-wrapped shifter knob and handbrake lever, satellite radio, navigation system, multifunction steering wheel, two-tone brown “Sioux” leatherette and checked cloth seating surfaces, and comfort front seats with driver’s side lumbar support.
