Herndon, Virginia – Volkswagen of America has announced a voluntary recall on 13,500 vehicles equipped with its DSG transmission.
Models affected by the recall include the Jetta, Jetta SportWagen, GTI and Eos built between September 2008 and August 2009. The recall applies mainly to 2009 model-year vehicles, but includes a very limited number of 2010 model-year vehicles.
The vehicles may be affected by a faulty temperature sensor in the TSG transmission which, if it fails, could result in illuminated warning lamps in the dashboard. In rare instances, the transmission may shift into neutral.
The recall also affects about 2,500 Audi A3, TT and TT Roadster models with a similar S tronic transmission.
Volkswagen and Audi will contact owners of the affected vehicles to have them inspected and, if necessary, repaired.
