2009 Volkswagen Tiguan
Ajax, Ontario – Volkswagen has announced that its all-new 2009 Tiguan compact SUV has arrived at Canadian dealerships, with a base price of $27,575. The new model represents Volkswagen’s first foray into the compact SUV segment.
The Tiguan features a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, producing 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque, mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or optional six-speed automatic. The engine returns a highway fuel economy of 7.6 L/100 km.
It is available with either front-wheel drive or an optional 4MOTION all-wheel drive system, similar to that used in the latest Passat 3.6 4MOTION. The system can proactively lock the differential in certain situations, distributing power to all four wheels before the front ones lose traction. With 4MOTION, the Tiguan starts at $30,975.
Standard features on all models include 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lamps, air conditioning, cruise control, heated mirrors, tilt and telescopic wheel, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, traction control, electronic stability control and a tire pressure monitoring system.
