Detroit, Michigan – MotorCities National Heritage Area has announced that it has launched its official website for registration of “VIP Cruisers” for the 2008 Woodward Dream Cruise. The cruise, which runs August 16, attracts some 30,000 collector cars for a one-day event on Detroit’s Woodward Avenue.
Visitors will be able to register for VIP packages including special access passes to select activities throughout the greater Detroit area in August, a commemorative plaque and discounts and benefits worth more than US$100. The site will offer only 12,500 packages, available at US$25, which includes the limited-edition commemorative plaque. Registration can be done at MotorCities.org.
“This new commemorative is poised to be a cherished collector’s item, and importantly, will help support the Cruise,” said Dale Dawkins, president of WDC Inc., which operates the event. “The VIP Cruiser program will also serve to foster an even greater appreciation of our region’s automotive heritage.”
Proceeds from the sale of the plaques will be used to help fund the costs of running the Woodward Dream Cruise in each of the nine host communities along the route.
