Vancouver, BC – The New Car Dealers Association of BC, owners of the Vancouver International Auto Show, today released the 2012 Vancouver International Auto Show official attendance figure of 85,053, a five percent increase from 2011.
“Not only does this reflect the success of, and a continued interest in, our show, but also in the auto industry as a whole.” said Blair Qualey, President and CEO of the New Car Dealers Association of BC. “The New Car Dealers of BC generate upwards of 10 billion dollars annually in economic activity in the province, so this is a vitally important annual industry event. Over 30 international brands were represented at the show.”
BC residents continue to express interest in clean energy vehicles and this year the show put a greater spotlight on this emerging technology with the CEV Showcase. BC’s most popular class of vehicle, trucks, was recognized in the new TruckCity area, and returning favourites such as Classic Alley and SuperCars continued to be very popular with guests.
“We are thrilled with the number of people that joined us at the 2012 Vancouver International Auto Show,” said the Show’s Executive Director, Paul McGeachie. “We saw record attendance on Easter Friday and the 2012 Easter weekend numbers were up slightly compared to the 2010 Easter weekend show.”
This year the show featured a rare North American debut of the BMW 6-series Gran Coupe, and the Canadian debuts of the 2013 Audi S5 Coupe, the 2013 Smart fortwo, and the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe.
