Vancouver, British Columbia – Vancouver will be the first to see the all-new 2011 Ford Explorer on its cross-country tour. The new model will be on display today, August 12, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Library Square in downtown Vancouver.

The Explorer will be shown in Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver and Montreal, on the heels of its unveiling in Toronto.

“We are excited to have a sneak peek at the 2011 Explorer right here in Vancouver,” said Rod Were, Ford’s dealer sales manager for Pacific District-Western Region. “The all-new Explorer has raised the bar for customers’ expectation of an SUV. It’s been completely reinvented with a more urban-friendly design and better fuel economy. Vancouver is the perfect location to show off the 2011 Explorer, as it speaks to the environmentally-conscious and outdoors-loving Vancouverite.”

The Explorer is expected to deliver more than 30 per cent better fuel economy than the outgoing model, and contains advanced safety technologies, including the world’s first inflatable rear seatbelts.

The Explorer on display in Library Square will be filled with non-perishable items to be donated to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society.
