Vancouver auto show kicks off this Saturday, April 6th

Vancouver, B.C. – The 82nd Annual Pacific International Auto and Light Truck Show begins this Saturday, April 6th and runs through Saturday, April 13th at BC Place Stadium near downtown Vancouver.

Over 560 new models from 26 manufacturers will be on display on two levels, and there are some world, North American, and Western Canadian debuts at this year’s show. As well, there are numerous aftermarket products and automotive services, accessories, feature attractions, entertainment and activities at the show.

The sole world debut is a customized Ford Mustang. North American debuts include the Maserati Spyder, 2003 Subaru Legacy GT sedan, 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible. Canadian debuts include a performance concept Volvo V40 Wagon and the Nissan Frontier ‘Open Sky’ pickup truck.

Western Canadian premieres will include the Acura NSX, 2003 Acura CL, Audi A4 Avant (wagon), Audi A4 1.8T Multitronic FWD, Audi TT Coupe Commemorative Edition, 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup, Honda Civic SIR, Honda Civic Hybrid, Infiniti G35, 2003 Range Rover, 2003 Mercedes Benz SL Class, 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder, Coupe and SUV, 2003 Subaru Forester, Suzuki Formula Hayabusa, Volkswagen Jetta Wagon, Volvo S60 AWD and Volvo V40 wagon concept.

Other crowd favourites will include the MINI Cooper and Cooper S, 2003 Toyota Corolla and Matrix, customized Ford Thunderbird, Pontiac Vibe, Hummer H2, Infiniti G35, Saturn L-Series, 2003 Kia Sorento SUV, BMW M3 with SMG gearbox, BMW 7-Series, Nissan 350Z, and 2003 Hyundai Tiburon.

Concept cars to be seen at the show include the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica, Chevy SSR Supersport Roadster, and Hyundai Clix.

In addition to the automobiles on display, there will be over $100,000 in prizes to be won, including a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon from Hyundai Auto Canada, a luxury Las Vegas holiday for two, and daily prizes of Automotive CD Players.

Feature areas at the show include:

  • The Lap of Luxury: with luxury vehicles from Jaguar, Audi, Cadillac and Lexus.

  • Tough Stuff: featuring light trucks and sport utility vehicles from General Motors, Hummer, Ford, Mazda and DaimlerChrysler.
  • The Family Way: featuring family transportation vehicles like minivans, wagons and family transportation from Kia, General Motors, and Mazda.

The Pacific International Auto Show is open April 6 – 13 from Noon to 10:00 pm (Sundays Noon to 6:00 pm) at BC Place Stadium at 777 Pacific Blvd., Vancouver, B.C. Showgoers should enter via Gate A on the Terry Fox Plaza. Admission prices are: Adults $11; Seniors/Students $9; Children under 6 are free.
