U.S.-based Zap to distribute electric vehicles in Chile
Santiago, Chile – U.S.-based electric vehicle manufacturer Zap has signed an exclusive agreement with Chilectra, the largest power company in Chile, to distribute its full line of electric transportation in Chile. Chilectra will allow its customers to finance the purchase of Zap electric bicycles, scooters, mopeds and other vehicles through their monthly utility bills.
Chilectra has placed an initial order with Zap for electric bicycle kits, Zappy3 personal transporters, and the new Zapinio moped-class electric scooter. The power company plans to launch the campaign in October, with some of Chile’s largest shopping malls showcasing the bikes and scooters.
Next to Mexico City and Sao Paulo, Santiago suffers some of the worst air pollution in Latin America. Chilectra has researched the electric vehicle market for the past year before deciding on the agreement with Zap.
