Saguenay, Quebec – Two four-lane divided sections of Highway 175 have reopened in Quebec, following construction to rebuild 25 km of roadway.
The sections are between kilometre 113 and 124, in the Mare-du-Sault area, and between km 176 and 190, in the Lac des Uries area. The new stretches of road now bring the number of rebuilt four-lane stretches to 92 kilometres.
“The Highway 73/175 project is gaining momentum,” said Julie Boulet, Quebec Minister of Transport. “Ninety per cent of this large-scale project is currently underway or complete. We can already see how this four-lane divided stretch of Highway 175 enhances the safety of its users.”
The opening of this stretch of road is part of a project to rebuild Highway 73/175 between Quebec City and the Saguenay region, with the governments of Canada and Quebec each committed to investing $262.5 million in the first phase of funding for the project.
