Two Chinese automakers confirmed for Detroit Auto Show
Detroit, Michigan – Two Chinese automakers, BYD Auto Company and Changfeng Motor Group, have been confirmed as exhibitors at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January.
The 2008 event will be Changfeng’s second year at the show, while BYD will be displaying for the first time in North America.
BYD Auto is a subsidiary of BYD Company Ltd., the world’s second-largest rechargeable battery producer. It entered the automotive industry when it purchased Tsinchuan Automobile Company, and makes about six models. Its production climbed from about 11,000 in 2005 to about 60,000 vehicles in 2005.
Organizers of the Detroit show say that they expect other Chinese automakers to confirm displays at the 2008 event.
