Shanghai, China – Michigan-based auto systems supplier TRW Automotive Holdings has opened a new test track in northern China. The company has made a significant investment in the facility since its setup began in 2006.
The facility will offer a product development and validation site during the winter season, to allow testing of active safety systems such as advanced braking and steering system, integrated vehicle control, and driver assist technologies. The track will be supported by engineers from TRW’s technical centre in Shanghai. The company said that the track “completes our footprint to locally engineer products and applications for our customers in China.”
“The new test track greatly improves our in-house winter testing capability,” said Jim Luo, general manager of TRW’s Asia Pacific technical centre. “It will provide our engineers with a local research and data gathering facility and serve as a technical assessment centre where we can work collaboratively to review and discuss vehicle performance directly with our customers.”
TRW now has a network of 12 testing sites worldwide, including six winter testing facilities, four warm-weather sites, and two all-weather test tracks.
