Noted photojournalist, author and traveller Helge Pedersen has teamed with the European/Asian travel consultancy MIR Corporation to bring live virtual tours along the Trans-Siberian Railway to the MIR website.
Pedersen is chronicling his travels on the legendary Trans Siberian Railway from Russia’s capital of Moscow to Mongolia’s capital of UlaanBaatar. A new update will be available every few days and will include Helge’s impressions of the trip, maps, photographs, and a slideshow of images as he makes his way across Russia.
The purpose of the virtual travelogue is to give website visitors the opportunity to get a more in-depth look at this private train tour, and gain insight into the area and its destinations. Pederson’s Trans-Siberian adventure begins in Moscow and heads to the southern tip of Lake Baikal, the world’s deepest and oldest freshwater lake, and the charming Siberian cities of Ulan Ude and Irkutsk. Turning south to UlaanBaatar, Helge will be attending the Naadam Festival–Mongolia’s celebration of the best in wrestling, horse racing, and archery, as well as uniquely Mongolian sports such as “ankle-bone shooting.”
