Transport Canada issues latest recalls

Ottawa, Ontario – Transport Canada has issued its latest recalls, which may affect some Audi, Volvo, Saturn, Bentley, Honda and Nissan/Infiniti vehicles, and some Cooper tires.

2006 Audi A8
2006 Audi A8 L
2006 Audi A8 L W12
Vehicles affected: 60

On certain vehicles, an improperly-routed ground in the front passenger-side airbag and seat heater harness may cause signal interference. This can result in the deactivation of the passenger-side frontal airbag, which would not deploy in the case of a frontal crash. Dealers will modify the wiring harness.

2006 Volvo S80
2005 Volvo XC90
Vehicles affected: 465

On certain vehicles, the positive battery cable may wear against the starter solenoid. The resulting damage could develop into an electrical short. This may cause smoke from under the hood; the car may not start; if driving, the engine may stall and electrical power will be lost. Dealers will relocate the battery cable.

2006 Saturn Ion
Vehicles affected: 27

Certain Saturn Ion Quad Coupe Red Line vehicles fail to conform to lighting system standards; when the fog lamps are turned on, the parking lamps, taillamps, license plate lamp and side marker lights do not automatically turn on as required. Dealers will install a jumper wire, which will activate the required lamps when the fog lamps are turned on.

2005 Bentley Arnage R
Vehicles affected: 2

On certain vehicles, due to a nut without the specified self-locking feature, the front lower ball joint may become disconnected. Dealers will replace the lower ball joint nuts.

2003-2004 Honda Odyssey
Vehicles affected: 3,237

Certain vehicles located in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the Yukon may develop a crack in the fuel sending unit flange, due to a combination of extreme low temperature and very rough road conditions. This crack could allow fuel to leak. Dealers will replace the fuel sending unit. At this time, vehicles located in other parts of the country are not experiencing this type of failure and so no action will be taken in unaffected provinces and territories.

2003-2006 Infiniti FX35
2003-2006 Infiniti FX45
2003-2004 Infiniti G35 coupe
2003-2004 Infiniti G35 sedan
2003-2004 Nissan 350Z
Vehicles affected: 16,387

On certain vehicles, the fuel filler hose may crack from exposure to ozone. This could cause fuel leaking from the hose while refuelling. The Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) will illuminate; fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire. Dealers will replace the fuel filler hose.

2005 Cooper Weather-Master S/T2 P215/65R16
Vehicles affected: 4,080

Certain tires have an improper stud pin-hole depth, which could allow the stud to penetrate into the carcass and cause a gradual reduction in inflation. Dealers will replace affected tires.
