Ottawa, Ontario – Transport Canada has issued its latest recalls, which may affect some Hyundai, Dodge, Kia and Toyota vehicles.

2010 Hyundai Santa Fe
Vehicles affected: 1,748
On certain vehicles, the automatic transmission intermediate shaft may suffer excessive wear due to misalignment with the right side output gear. Continued use in this condition could cause a whirring or whining noise to develop, and eventual transmission damage which could result in a loss of vehicle propulsion. Dealers will replace the intermediate shaft and right side output gear.

2008-2009 Dodge Sprinter 2500
2008-2009 Dodge Sprinter 3500
Vehicles affected: 180
On certain vehicles with an optional three-seat bench in the second seating row, the seatbelts may be certified to European standards but fail to comply with the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard. Due to incorrect load limiter mounting, the assembly loop cannot withstand the forces specified by the standard and could fail to restrain the seat occupant as intended in a crash. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the seatbelt assemblies.

2010 Hyundai Tucson
Vehicles affected: 1,202
Certain vehicles have rear reflectors that do not comply with the photometric requirements of the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard. This could render the vehicle less visible to other motorists in darkness. Dealers will replace the rear reflex reflectors.

2011 Kia Sorento
Vehicles affected: 393
On certain vehicles, the automatic transmission intermediate shaft may suffer excessive wear due to misalignment with the right side output gear. Continued use in this condition could cause a whirring or whining noise to develop, and eventual transmission damage which could result in a loss of vehicle propulsion. Dealers will replace the intermediate shaft and right side output gear.

2011 Toyota Tundra
Vehicles affected: 3,447
On certain vehicles, the propeller shaft slip yoke may fail, which could allow the propeller shaft to separate at the joint and contact the road. This could result in lost vehicle propulsion or loss of vehicle control. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the propeller shaft assembly.
