On certain vehicles equipped with a heated washer fluid system, a short circuit on the printed circuit board for the heater may overheat the control circuit ground wire. A repair was implemented in a recall in 2008, but there have been new reports of thermal incidents after the improvement was installed. The situation may cause some minor distortion but could also lead to plastic melting around the heated washer fluid system, and potentially a fire. Dealers will permanently disable and remove the heated washer fluid module, and an updated page will be inserted in the owner’s manual to document removal of the feature.

2009 Volkswagen Routan
Vehicles affected: 1,690

On certain vehicles equipped with power sliding doors, the wiring harness may have been improperly routed and may chafe on the lower sliding door hinge bracket. In some instances, it could result in a fire within the sliding door. Dealers will inspect, repair and, if necessary, replace the harnesses.

2010-2011 Volvo C30
2010 Volvo S40
2010 Volvo V50
Vehicles affected: 123

On certain vehicles, the gearshift lever stud assembly may not have been tightened to the correct specification. If the lever cable/stud assembly becomes loose, it may not be possible to engage, disengage or shift gears. Dears will inspect and torque the stud assembly to the correct specification.

2007-2011 BMW 1 Series
Vehicles affected: 6,399

On certain vehicles, if the front seatbelt pretensioner and load limiter deploy during a crash, the sound insulation in the B-pillar around the pretensioner could ignite. Dealers will repair affected vehicles.

2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara
2006 Suzuki XL-7
Vehicles affected: 4,782

On certain vehicles, the tension adjuster pulley for the drive belt that operates the power steering pump and, if equipped, the air conditioner compressor, has an outer portion made of plastic. Repeated heat stress can cause the plastic to deteriorate and pieces of the pulley can break off. Broken pieces can get caught between the pulley and the drive belt, which can come off, resulting in increased steering effort. Dealers will replace the adjuster pulley.

2010 Subaru Legacy
2010 Subaru Outback
Vehicles affected: 5,534

Certain vehicles may have a broken lead wire in the flat cable of the steering roll connector, which will cause the airbag warning light to illuminate, and make it impossible to operate the paddle shifter, radio and horn. Dealers will inspect and replace affected steering roll connectors.
