Las Vegas, Nevada – Toyota Motor Sales USA has announced that it will launch proprietary telematics systems over the year in the U.S., including emergency assistance and stolen vehicle tracking. The new systems debuted at the Consumer Electronics Show, a trade event in Las Vegas.
The all-new systems will be available on select models, with customized versions for Toyota and Lexus brands. Toyota will introduce Safety Connect, while Lexus will use Lexus Enform with Safety Connect, adding more convenience-oriented features and specialized technologies.
Safety Connect will be the cornerstone of the new offerings, and will include automatic collision notification, stolen vehicle location, and an emergency assistance button that will connect customers with a 24-hour call centre.
Lexus Enform will add Destination Assist, which will use a live operator to find destinations and send the information to the vehicle’s navigation system, and eDestination, which will allow users to go online via the Lexus owners’ website to select and organization destinations, and send them wirelessly to the vehicle. The system will include a “library” of destinations, with up to 20 customized folders, each holding 10 destinations. Enform will also use an updated voice recognition system that allows drivers to use flexible, conversational commands to access and control the system.
