Toyota unveils FXS concept
Toronto, Ontario – Toyota Canada unveiled its FXS – Future Experimental Sports – concept car in Toronto on Thursday. The unveiling took place at the opening of the “Re-Design” exhibit at the Design Exchange. The FXS, which was developed to explore the possibilities for a next generation sportscar, will also be on display at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, February 14 to 23.
“The FXS is a pure open roadster, meant for drivers with a passion for cars who believe driving is one of life’s great pleasures,” said Kenji Tomikawa, President of TCI. “From the overall design to the smallest details, the FXS was developed to satisfy the true sports car enthusiast.”
The rear-wheel-drive FXS is powered by the same 4.3-litre, 32-valve V8 engine that drives the Lexus SC 430 sport convertible. The FXS features a newly developed 6-speed sequential manual transmission equipped with Formula One-inspired shift buttons mounted in the steering wheel.
The FXS rides on an in-wheel double wishbone suspension that reduces weight and provides precise handling. Wheels are uniquely designed three-spoke 18-inch aluminum alloys with 245/40R18 tires in the front and 285/35R18s in the rear.
Its moonlight blue interior is enhanced with dramatic blue lighting. Chrome and pale blue gauges – speedometer, tachometer, fuel and oil pressure, and compass – focus strictly on the information required for driving.
