Toyota shows 2005 Corolla XRS, Lexus GX470

Montreal, Quebec – Among the vehicles on display at Toyota’s stand is the 2005
Corolla XRS, a performance version of the Corolla sedan with a specially-tuned
version of Toyota’s 1.8 litre 4 cylinder engine, and a sport-tuned suspension. The
Corolla XRS features a 170 horsepower engine (regular Corollas have 130 horsepower)
and a six speed manual transmission.

The XRS has a sport-tuned suspension that includes a front damper mounted between
the shock towers to produce improved ride and handling without increasing noise
vibration and harshness (NVH). The XRS suspension also features increased rate coil
springs and shocks on all four wheels to reduce roll and pitch. Ride height has been
lowered by 25 mm, and larger 16-inch aluminum wheels are fitted with Michelin
performance summer tires.

As well, Toyota is showing a Celica Tsunami with a new skirt package, a distinctive
spoiler, front fog lamps and, on the GT-S, dark grey alloy wheels. Inside, the
Celica Tsunami adds a 200-watt Panasonic AM/FM/CD/MP3/WMA audio system with
removable face plate and remote control, and colour-keyed interior accents including
the steering wheel, door trim and, on models with the manual transmission, the shift
knob. Keyless entry, cruise control, a power moonroof and an Anti-lock Braking
System (ABS) are also standard on the Tsunami.

Toyota’s new four-door Tundra Double Cab is also on display, and it will go on sale
this month, the company announced.

positioned in size and price between the RX 330 and the LX 470.

In addition, Lexus announced it will offer the SportDesign II, a new package of
options for its IS 300 sedan. SportDesign II includes 215/45ZR-17 tires mounted on
special-edition 17-inch wheels and a colour-matched rear spoiler. A limited slip
differential is standard, and models fitted with the 5-speed automatic transmission
are also equipped with Vehicle Stability Control. Luxury features include heated
front seats, full leather interior, a power moonroof, and a garage door opener. Fog
lamps and an electrochromic rear view mirror with digital compass are also included.
