Toronto, Ontario – Toyota Canada will recall approximately 3,450 Tundra pickup trucks, model year 2011, to inspect the rear drive shaft.

The company said that in an estimated .05 per cent of the vehicles, the rear shaft may include a slip yoke that could break due to improper casting during the foundry process. No other Toyota, Lexus or Scion vehicles are involved in the campaign, and Toyota is not aware of any incidents or injuries in Canada related to the condition.

Owners of the involved vehicles will receive a letter beginning in May. Dealers will perform an inspection to identify a specific production lot number located on the drive shaft. In a small number of cases, the rear drive shaft may need to be replaced, at no cost to the vehicle owner.
