Toronto, Ontario – The Toyota Prius has been named a Top Safety Pick by the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

To qualify, a vehicle must earn the highest rating of “good” in the Institute’s front, side, rollover and rear impact evaluations, and be equipped with electronic stability control.

Toyota said that all of its models meet or exceed the requirements of all Canadian and U.S. safety standards. The Prius comes standard with seven airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners and force limiters, and active front head restraints.
