Toyota may consider Woodstock, Ontario assembly plant

Toronto, Ontario – The Toyota Motor Corporation may be looking at land in southwestern Ontario as the site of a new assembly plant, a Canadian newspaper reports.

The Globe & Mail said that the Japanese manufacturer is looking at a 1,000-acre site in Woodstock, Ontario. A possible new $600 million car assembly plant would create about 1,500 jobs. The site is about 30 minutes away from the company’s Cambridge, Ontario plant, which builds Toyota and Lexus vehicles. It would be the first new assembly plant built by any automaker in Canada since 1995.
