Toyota Canada teams up with CTV for Academy Awards

Toronto, Ontario – Toyota Canada and CTV have announced that the automaker will tie in the launch of the all-new 2007 Camry to CTV’s broadcast of the 78th Annual Academy Awards telecast on March 5, 2006. The program is the most-watched annual television show in Canada.

In a Canadian first, Toyota will unveil a two-minute feature commercial that will run only in Canada, and only once during the telecast. The spot, entitled “What You Want Is What You Need”, will reveal the new vehicle.

CTV has confirmed that the spot will air in the first commercial break, immediately following the opening monologue delivered by Oscar host Jon Stewart. Following its premiere, the commercial will be turned into one 60-second and two 30-second spots and will continue to air on CTV through May.

As part of the Academy Awards package, Toyota Canada will also sponsor CTV’s “Enhanced TV”; using technology customized for the Oscars, viewers can visit www.ctv.ca/Oscars and stay on-line during the telecast. With Enhanced TV, viewers can make predictions as each category unfolds, and answer trivia questions throughout the night, for a chance to win a home theatre system with 50-inch Plasma HD television. To take part in the Enhanced TV contest, viewers must register at www.ctv.ca/Oscars by Sunday, March 5 at 8 p.m. ET.
