Toyota Canada announces pricing for 2004 Camry Solara convertible
Mississauga, Ontario – Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) announced that the new, 2004 Camry
Solara SLE V6 Convertible will go on sale in April at a Manufacturer’s Suggested
Retail Price (MSRP) of $39,000, $505 less than the previous version, even with added
equipment valued at over $3,000.
Sold in one fully-loaded configuration, the new Solara Convertible features a new,
more powerful V6 engine and a new 5-speed Sequential Multi-Mode transmission. The
2004 Solara Convertible is shod with larger, low-profile P215/55R17 all-season
radials, and a full-sized alloy spare is now standard. A new tire pressure warning
system monitors air pressure within each tire and a warning lamp on the dash alerts
the driver to a loss of drop in pressure.
New luxury features include steering wheel audio controls, telescopic steering
wheel, electrochromic driver’s side mirror, filtered air conditioning, and a cargo
net. A new multi-information display quickly provides data such as outside air
temperature, fuel consumption data, and an estimate of the distance that can be
travelled before refuelling.
The Camry Solara SLE V6 Convertible comes with a premium JBL audio with in-dash 6-CD
changer, 6 speakers and rear subwoofer plus the new steering wheel audio controls,
automatic climate control, leather seats and trim, heated front seats, power windows
and door locks, heated side mirrors, cruise control, keyless entry with lockout
protection and more.
Advanced airbags include a driver’s airbag that deploys according to information it
receives on seat position and impact severity from sensors located in the seat. The
front passenger airbag deploys based on the force of the impact.
Designed and built in North America, the 2004 Solara Convertible is powered by the
new 230-horsepower 3.3-litre V6 introduced in Solara V6 coupes. The 24-valve, DOHC
engine produces 225 horsepower at 5,600 rpm. The 6-cylinder powertrain is certified
as an Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV). The new 5-speed Sequential Multi-Mode
Super ECT (Super-intelligent Electronically Controlled Transmission) allows drivers
to choose between manual and automatic operation. When the transmission is in “S”
mode, drivers can up- or down-shift by tapping the shift knob forward or backward.
