Toronto, Ontario – Toyota Canada has announced that it will update software for the vehicle stability control system in certain 2010 Lexus GX 460 vehicles under a voluntary recall. The recall is a followup to an issue raised earlier this month by Consumer Reports.

The recall affects approximately 446 vehicles in Canada.

Toyota said its engineering teams undertook similar tests to confirm the issues raised by Consumer Reports, which said that its test vehicles slid out too far before the stability control program was able to regain control. Toyota Canada temporarily suspended sales of the vehicle pending an investigation.

Toyota Canada said that it is confident that an update to the stability control software addresses the concern. All Canadian Lexus dealers will have the software update by the end of April, and letters will be sent to owners affected by the recall in early May. No other Toyota or Lexus vehicles are involved in the recall.
